Students urged to explore all options after A Level results

Aug 19, 2025 | News

Students who have collected A Level results are urged to look beyond their grades and explore the many routes to success.

Staffordshire Jobs and Careers Service is offering anyone 18 and over fully funded expert support to explore study, training and jobs.

With a website with more than 10,000 local jobs, apprenticeships, training opportunities and access to careers experts, young people can explore new careers and routes.

Adam Evans, aged 22 from Newcastle, now works for Staffordshire engineering firm KMF but his success hasn’t followed a straight line.

He said: “I wanted to be a vet and went to university, but it wasn’t for me. After some soul searching, I found an apprenticeship in sheet metal fabrication at KMF and still to this day it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

“My advice to anyone getting their A Level results today and thinking about their future is: don’t go to university just because everybody does it or because your mates are going.

“Do what is right for you and you’ll make so many new friends in the right space.”

Janet Higgins, cabinet member for education at Staffordshire County Council, said: “I want to congratulate every student getting their A Level results. Your hard work and dedication will have set you up for success no matter what you choose to do.”
