Apprentices made Redundant

In the first instance contact your training provider if you’ve been made redundant your training provider maybe able to to help apprentices find other employers and continue with their apprenticeship.

The government will fund your training for at least 12 weeks following redundancy to give you time to find alternative employment. You can also search and apply for other apprenticeship opportunities on Find an apprenticeship. You can set up email and text alerts to be notified when new opportunities become available.
You may be able to continue and complete your apprenticeship, regardless of whether you find a new employer if:
you have less than 6 months training remaining, or
you have completed 75% or more of your training
If you are unable to complete your apprenticeship as a result of redundancy
If you were within 6-12 months of completing your apprenticeship when you were made redundant, you can re-start your apprenticeship from the point it left off when you find a new employer.
If you were 12 months or more away from completing your apprenticeship, you can start a new apprenticeship which will take into account your prior learning. This can shorten the length of your new apprenticeship as you will not need to study this learning again.
Your training provider should provide you with a record of apprenticeship part completion that can help you secure future employment and continue your apprenticeship. The record should detail the percentage of the apprenticeship you have completed and a summary of the knowledge, skills and behaviours developed which will be helpful to your new employer.
