“Hello, my pleasure to launch the Apprenticeship Awards for Greater Birmingham today.

So last year of course, we were all together at a sparkling event at Edgbaston stadium and we were able to celebrate all the nominees and the winners there.

This year, although we can’t come together in the same way the spirit of celebration for the nominees and the winners is exactly the same. You could even argue it’s even more important thinking about apprenticeships this year.

I should thank the organisers who made this possible, and of course thank everyone who’s taken on, promoted apprentices and of course the nominees themselves.

What we are celebrating tonight is so important, apprenticeships are a great way of individuals having a wonderful start in life and their also a great way of ensuring our region has the skills it needs for business to prosper in the future.

We are also celebrating tonight incredible personal commitment from individuals who have gone that extra bit to make a real, real success. So thank you to those who have taken people on, thank you to those people who have worked hard, thank you to everyone who has encouraged.

Please enjoy the evening and lets celebrate some outstanding contributions of people who are going to make a real difference to this city, this region and our economy of the future. Enjoy the celebration.”
