Apprenticeships in Accounting and Finance
Thinking about an apprenticeship in the economic sector?
Accounting & Finance are both concerned with money and numbers. Although Accounting & Finance are often used together, they are different entities. Accounting is called the “language of business”, it is the process of analysing an organisation economic activity. Finance is the study and system of money, investments and other financial instruments.
During an Accounting apprenticeship you will be placed within an accounting firm. Your time will be split between work experience and working towards an accounting qualification. The average hours for an apprenticeship are 30 hours a week. There are three levels of an Accounting apprenticeship:
Intermediate: Could include roles such as a Accounts Assistant
Advanced: Could include roles such as a Accounting Technician
Higher: Could include roles such as a Accounts Manager
The progression on an Accounting apprenticeship is endless. Remember you could get a head start within the sector, within the debt! The average university debt is now over £44,000.
Within the UK the financial sector is one of the UK’s leading employers. As one of the leading sectors in the UK there is an abundance of opportunities for Apprenticeships. The main advantage of completing an apprenticeship in the Finance sector is the fact that you will gain on hands experience on the job. With such a competitive market experience is key.
Within the Finance sector you can complete an apprenticeship:
Intermediate: Could include roles such as Cashier
Advanced: Could include roles such as a Pensions Team Leader
Higher: Could include roles such as a Financial Services Professional
Each employer will have different fulfilment criteria. Just remember that apprenticeships are about gaining experience – you don’t need to be an expert in the field before you start!
